conflict archetype
noun
a typical pattern of conflict.
"The politicians fell back on a defamation routine when one made the shocking allegation that the other had an unscrupulous personal life."

emotional courage
noun
the willingness to confront difficult feelings.
"Sensitivity doesn't indicate weakness; hiding from your feelings does."
Essence of the Game
noun
the intrinsic, true nature of a competition, devoid of any design flaws or practical loopholes.
"Football (soccer) is supposed to be about how good a team is at scoring goals, not faking injuries."
essential victory
noun
to win according to the Essence of the Game, but not the technical rules. As opposed to a technical "victory."
fauxspeak
noun
any language or communication that is deceptive or appears to transmit information while also intentionally, maliciously hindering its clear, easy, immediate reception or comprehension.
ex: sending a letter to the wrong address, telling a hint that is not understood, unnecessarily verbose or confusing contracts.
general perfectionism
noun
the relentless pursuit of all-encompassing perfectionism.
The founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, was a general perfectionist. See also specific perfectionism.
hikehitcher
noun
someone who picks up hitchhikers.
"Hikehitching can be a risky but also rewarding experience."
introspective negligence
noun
refusal or failure to engage in self-reflection.
"Immorality and introspective negligence are usually correlated."
inversion
noun
the reversal of something into an unnatural, unhealthy or inefficient direction contrary to its design.
"They inverted their shame into pride as a defense mechanism."
karmic debt
noun
an oft-underestimated sum of utility or value that must be fully recompensed in order to make amends, resolve conflict or achieve redemption.
"Underestimating the principal or interest rate on karmic debt can make it irrecoverable if it exceeds one's capacity to repay."

projection
noun
the unconscious transfer of one's desires or emotions to another person.
"I did not realize I was projecting myself onto them."

proxy photo
noun
a nearly identical, authorized and acknowledged substitute photo for when an original is unavailable.
"He showed a proxy photo of a bull terrier to represent what his friend's dog looked like."
quasi-intentional
adjective
an act that is deliberate, but also somewhat rooted in unconscious drives.
"Quasi-intentional misdeeds may be caused by introspective negligence, but are not excused by it."
robocop
noun
Derived from the 1987 science fiction film, this term describes an insensitive, dull and authoritarian person.
"Robocops hate drugs because they bring them to life."
Sabotage Impulse
noun
the envious desire to sabotage or ruin for others what one cannot achieve for themself.
"When victory escapes them, sore losers are prone to sabotage the leading player."
shadow
noun
in psychology, the Shadow is the unconscious, repressed part of your personality that you deny but which still controls you.
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." - Carl Jung
specific perfectionism
noun
the relentless pursuit of a specific or narrow type of perfectionism.
The world's fastest sprinter is a specific perfectionist. See also general perfectionism.
technical "victory"
noun
to win according to the technical rules, but not Essence of the Game. As opposed to an essential victory.
