Psychology

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. — Carl Jung

Carl Jung

I am a great fan of Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology. I consider his method of individuation, breakdown of the mind into it's fundamental processes, and theories about anima/animus, the collective unconscious and Shadow to be invaluable for self-development, getting along with a wide variety of people, and controlling (or not controlling) feelings.

MBTI Personality Test

Figure yourself out and expand your mind using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the world's most popular personality typology, based on Carl Jung's theory of the eight core mental processes that construct your reality and define the 16 personality types. The "test" only asks about your preferences so there are no right or wrong answers, and its spectral design means there are limitless possibilities.

Chess

Anyone that feels "too insane" should try playing chess on easy mode (at least to start). This free, logical game is a fun way to condition your mind into more rational modes of operation, which can cure many psychological ailments.

The Way Back

Cure your demons and regain your former glory.

Superego vs. Id

This famous Freudian theory basically states that there is a conflict in each of us between the two opposing drives of the mature Superego (which prioritizes responsibility, self-esteem and morality) and the childish Id (which indulges in fun and pleasure). We are usually not conscious of the ways our minds trick their own opposing drives into submission, but when we remember to intelligently optimize this subconscious balancing act, it should enable us to satiate both drives more effectively.

"Crazy" as Prejudice

Though legitimate mental health issues are of paramount importance, we must not be naive about this word's potential for abuse, and not use it as a discriminatory, blanket term to oppress new ideas without first affording them their due consideration.

Mental Health-Related Gun Control

Preventing crazy people from owning guns would be easier if the definitions for craziness were less subjective. There are not many guaranteed, painless ways to kill yourself. If suicidal people feel their ability to purchase arms may be restricted, they could feel forced to conceal any issues they may have.

Victim Blaming

Obviously when someone has been wronged, they're right to ask for help in seeking justice, not only for their own sake, but to prevent the perpetrator from doing it again. But sometimes victims are blamed or pressured not to speak up. Why? Because it's easier. If this happens to you: don't give up. Find someone else - there are people who care. And ditch the victim-blamers now that they've shown their true colours.
