My Uncle

My Trump-supporting uncle who was medically incarcerated at Georgian Manor. My attempts to get his brothers or local nephews to fix the problem never panned out and I couldn't go there myself as I was tied up with other important matters in Europe.

Context

John was interred at Georgian Manor after suffering a stroke that paralyzed much of his body in or around 2020. His legs atrophied from lack of use and he was sent to their long term care facility to recover his ability to communicate and walk. He expressed the desire to leave many times. I had problems with their staff from the start, and was not informed of how to file complaints, I had to discover it for myself on their website. When I asked why this critical information was withheld I never got a response to that and other questions.

The Real Deal

They were conditioning him to become a baby and then acting surprised that he was not recovering. They were killing him gently under the guise of providing medical aid and acting passive-aggressive when I called them out on their lack of progress recuperating him. Obviously, healing from a life-changing injury is not just a physical challenge; there are emotional and psychological barriers to overcome that the ball-breaking culture of Georgian Manor exasperated. My hope is that in sharing his story, others will be less susceptible to a similar fate at the hands of the inept Canadian "free" healthcare system.

David Gray - Please Forgive Me

My favourite uncle left his crippled body yesterday. He showed me this song years ago and it had a great impact. I’m always working on things to leave behind, but he never did — he was more fun — yet his legacy remains. I’m still learning from him.
